April 28, 2015- Cute note from Sister Kristina Tycksen!

I am in a trio with Hermana Russell and Hermana Carabine. These sisters are amazing! We have gotten to know each other so much in the past few days, it´s like we've known each other for years, not days!

Okay, funny story time: we tried to start doing our laundry today when one of the washing machines broke (they're in our house). We called for someone to come and fix it, and so they came and said that they needed to switch it out with a different one. So, when the new one was brought in, we needed to test it, so Hermana Russell put some of her clothes in there and then went to put her detergent in. Apparently, the detergent that an elder at the tienda told us to buy was NOT detergent--it was fabric softener. So, we all had a good laugh, we couldn't believe that we had done something like that. We felt pretty silly. The handymen were teasing us, and we couldn't understand their Spanish, but we laughed anyway. Then, Hermana Russel said (teasing, mind you) "Cayete!" Then, we were all kind of nervously laughing, but the Mexicans thought it was hilarious. She had no idea that she had just told them to "shut up". We've all been laughing about it all day, and it will probably become District 12B legend! ;)

Excerpts from Kristina Tycksons letter via her mom Natalie. I am so grateful they are companions and that they got to meet their district on the plane. :)well the sisters.

April 27, 2015- Primero Semana

HOLA!!!

Oh my goodness so much has happened! I love the CCM(ce ce eme) so much!!!! I love my teachers, the food, the people here, and just everything!!! Entonces, Where do I even start? The spanish is definitely hard but I am so glad I got a little bit of a head start. Its hard though because I am the only one with the head start so I answer all the questions. I don´t like it because I still don´t know a lot. So sometimes I´m like, "I don´t know!" jajaja I love my companions so much! They are super spiritual and follow like every single rule so strictly. At first I didn´t like it but i guess its good.

Our first lesson went so well with our investigators. we were all so happy! The lessons after just keep getting better and better. We feel the spirit so strongly when we have them pray. Even though they are LDS and are pretending, the spirit is so strong.

Seriously, our teacher are the bomb!! The gospel means so much more when you are speaking in a different language. The latinos here are so awesome. Everyone here is latino accept the missionaries from america. When our teachers teach us they sometimes mess up their english and we have to correct them but it is so funny:) we are so lucky to have latinos teaching us because you learn so much quicker!

The elders and hermanas here are super cool. This one group of elders told the dumbest joke to me on my first day here.
"Hey hermana, who has no arms and rolls in a pile of  leaves?"
Me:" uhhhhhh no se"
"Russell." jajajajaja they thought they were pretty hilarious. They also always say, hey you dropped your pocket! ya i know dumb. but everyone here is super chill and it is so fun!

So much has happened and its going by way too fast! GYM time is the best we get so excited everyday to have gym time. I have 2 companions so we are in a companionship of 3. It is so fun we get along so well! This one hermana in our district is like my other half i swear. We will just laugh and laugh. Everyone thinks we are crazy. We are the first district in history to have 6 people to come in. during the summer they have up to 1,000 coming in at a time so ya we are pretty special. One of those 6 people is Elder steel. the only guy so he has to have 2 girl companions. Yes he gets a lot of attention for that.

I love the gospel! it is seriously so awesome and i cant wait to go and share it with others! My spanish is picking up and cant wait till i am actually fluent!
The food here is great. it is mostly hispanic so i love it! they know how to make real mexican food. Plus they throw in a hamburger meal or pizza every so often.
It is seriously so beautiful here! Every morning when my companions and i wake up we go outside and just are in awe with everything. It never gets old.

I saw my first parrot! It totally freaked me out because i forgot where we were for a second. They are the cutest things ever! They are also beautiful. Everything here is beautiful.

Well not much time. I love you and tienen un buen dia!
